A number of anecdotal and unscientific reports have been collected by the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies (MAPS) showing benefits to individuals with Autism from using MDMA (Ecstasy), including enhancing feelings of empathy and improving communication. This is a very preliminary step in the direction of making a case to the Food and Drug Administration that MDMA should be allowed to be studied and potentially licensed as a therapeutic drug.
